Current SOMB Standards require victim representation on Community Supervision and Multidisciplinary Teams. A victim voice can provide a needed balance to the occasional myopic vision that can occur when staffing issues only in relation to the offender and inadvertently eclipsing the victim voice and perspective. When this happens, unintended consequences to the victim can be isolating and, at times, devastating. This workshop will empower therapists and supervising officers to effectively utilize the victim representative. In addition, this training will explain the victim representative role within the team and detail how a victim representative can contribute to the overall mission of the CST/MDT. Types of information victims may request or provide will also be discussed. Actual case examples will be presented and various avenues of victim representation will be explored. Audience participation is welcomed! Please note, this training is developed for professional members of Community Supervision Teams and Multidisciplinary Teams.
